A Journalist Murdered; His Work Lives On
For Immediate Release
July 9, 2006
Today marks the second anniversary of the brutal Moscow murder of Forbes editor Paul Klebnikov, a case that remains complex and mysterious — and unsolved.
At Project Klebnikov — a global alliance of investigative reporters and media entities formed exactly one year ago — we remain committed to shedding light on the shadowy interests that consumed Paul. The silencing of investigative journalists is not only intolerable, it is pointless.
It will never stop the work.
With the support of Rostov State University's School of Philology and Journalism, today we begin publishing a Russian-language translation of our website. Moreover, with the assistance of Reporters Without Borders, we announce our intention to host a conference later this year in Moscow. Our plan is to bring many of the best investigative minds in the world under one roof to discuss the Klebnikov case and related subjects.
On this day, our thoughts are with the Klebnikov family and their tireless pursuit for justice. We applaud the efforts of all the officials, investigators, attorneys and reporters who have worked diligently on this matter, and we urge them to keep the fires burning — on the Klebnikov case, as well as on the unsolved murder cases of a dozen of our brave colleagues in Russia. For more information, please visit Project Klebnikov at www.projectklebnikov.org or contact Richard Stern at Stern & Co,
